Westpac Banking Corporation (Westpac) or WBC was founded in 1817 and opened its first office in Sydney. It was the first bank established in Australia and is considered one of the 'big 4' banks. As of 2010 Westpac operated in Australia, New Zealand and the near Pacific region and maintained offices in key financial centers around the world including London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The group operate through five business divisions: Westpac Retail & Business Banking (Westpac RBB), BT Financial Group Australia (BTFG), St.George Bank, Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB), and New Zealand Banking.
