Australian Consumer credit regulation
In Australia, the National Credit Act began of 2010 states that anyone in Australia who wants to engage in credit activities (including lenders and brokers) must be licensed with ASIC or be a representative of someone who is licensed. Also that the credit provider must: Make reasonable inquiries about your financial situation, requirements and objectives as well, take reasonable steps to verify your financial situation and whether the the contract is not suitable for you.
What you should know about your Australian credit card
A credit provider also must provide a fact sheet for consumers applying for a credit card that include: an Interest rate that applies to purchases, cash advances and balance transfers and minimum repayment. As well as if it exists the promo rate, interest free period, late payment fees or annual fee.
